Introduction to our CSAL members, 2009-2010

Liang ZHU, male,  from shanghai, is studying a Ph.D program in the department of Materials Science, faculty of Engineering, university of Leuven. My hobbies, Tennis (once a week), billiards and tourism (natural scenery, ancient city). As the new chairman of Chinese Students & Scholars' Association of Leuven, I will do my best to provide my assistance to others and strive to enrich the lives of compatriots at Leuven. I, Jingzhu YE (Angie), am majoring in Nanoscience and nanotechnology in KUL. During my bachelor study, I was the main member of traditional instruments orchestra of Student Art Union in UESTC and played Erhu. I am the commissary in charge of entertainment, and would love to dedicate my ability and energy to create more abundant and interesting activities for our lives of study in Leuven.

Yang-Yin CHEN, male, born in Jiaxing, Zhejiang. Graduated from Jiaxing No.1 middle school in 2002; Xi’an Jiao Tong University in 2006, Bachelor degree in Microelectronics engineering; K.U.Leuven/Chalmers University of Technology (CTH) in 2008, Master degree in Erasmus Mundus nano science & nano technology. Currently studying as Ph.D student in IMEC/K.U.Leuven, 2^nd year, major in Si-based non-volatile memory devices. Mainly in charge of CSAL website maintenance and other technology-related work. Hobby in photograph, and fan of F.C Bayern Munich. Try my best to serve all Chinese fellow students in Leuven, with help from previous CSAL member and our senior fellow Tong GAN. Route: Depart from Leuven (GroepT, Vesaliusstraat 13, Leuven)— Keukenhof — Amsterdam

Cost:
Adults: 26 Euros per person (including the 11.5 Euros entrance fee to the tulip garden in Keukenhof)
Children (4-11 yo): 21 Euros per person (including 6.5 Euros entrance fee)

In the message, pls. write down “Holland Trip”, and the name of participants.

(3) Print out the transaction receipt on an ATM. This will be used as a ticket when boarding the bus.
NOTE: If you are using internet banking, pls. print out the receipt on an ATM. A receipt printed from your own computer is not valid as a boarding ticket!

M INVITES YOU

On September 20, M, the new museum of Leuven, will open its doors. During last year’s Kulturama it sought and found its first visitors. This year M is donating three exclusive guided tours.

Exclusive because mere mortals have not yet penetrated into the new museum building. Exclusive because specific publics are targeted. Thus, M is looking for Chinese people, because they are the second largest student group in Leuven, after the Dutch. Yet they are hardly visible.

You guide is Mr. Tseng Hsien-Yang who will welcome you in your own language at Februari 15 at 3 p.m.

About Leuven

Leuven is situated in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium, at about 20 Km east of Brussels. With a total population of about 90.000 inhabitants it could have been a inauspicious little provincial town.

Leuven is renowned all over the world for its University (the K.U.L = Katholieke Universiteit Leuven -Catholic University of Louvain), the oldest still existing catholic university in the world, founded in 1425. All through the year the city of Leuven presents a lively atmosphere because of the many students from all over Belgium (and the world). Especially in the evening, and certainly at night, the many bars and students cafés, spread all over the town, guarantee that there is always something interesting happening. In a word, Leuven is a peaceful and wonderful place to study.
